While the Internet Can Get Addicting, Make Sure to Live a Little
As with anything in life, the incredible capabilities of the internet come with a fair share of drawbacks. Even though communication via the internet can be quick, convenient, and reliable, the inability to be in the physical presence of someone through cyberspace is something to take into consideration. I think that making sure to have plenty of physical interactions with others throughout your lifetime is crucial to truly living your life to the fullest. And, although the internet can be a good way to keep in touch with friends and family, there’s absolutely |
nothing that beats meeting with someone face-to-face.
Another struggle with the internet is having to, not only create an identity, but to try and interpret other people’s identities, as well. Not a single person is portrayed one-hundred percent accurately on the internet. You don’t even have to lie; just by leaving information out, which is inevitable online, you’ve already created an identity different from your own. There’s really no solution to this problem, though, and the internet never claimed to be perfect, anyway. All we can really do is appreciate what the internet does for us, and forgive it for its flaws. Something we can do, however, is to make sure that we don’t let the internet become our only source of communication. It’s important to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, like enjoying a cup of coffee with an old friend. |
